Sarasota Interventional Radiology – Florida’s Premier Radiology Practice

Welcome内蒙古快3 to Sarasota Interventional Radiology (SIR-Florida), Florida’s premier interventional radiology practice that delivers unparalleled patient experience in a state-of-the-art facility. With a focus on nonsurgical and minimally invasive methods to diagnose and treat pain, illness and disease, SIR provides exceptional clinical quality, cost-efficiency, and a high level of patient satisfaction to residents of Florida's west coast and beyond. At SIR, patient care and innovative technology are among our trademarks.

SIR-Florida was founded in 2006 by Gerald E. Grubbs, MD, board-certified interventional radiologist who engaged in considerable research and planning to ensure that the highest standards would be followed in the delivery of medical services to every patient. From the very first consultation to recovery in one of our post-op rooms, Dr. Grubbs and his team of nurses, registered technologists, and board-certified anesthesiologists strive to make each patient's experience as pleasant and successful as possible.

Since its inception, SIR-Florida has built a strong reputation for delivering the one-on-one, personalized attention that patients expect and deserve. Just as each patient's condition is unique, so is their mode of treatment. Dr. Grubbs adheres to the same philosophy with each patient--quality time, quality treatment, and quality results--and all patients receive the same level of attention, care, and treatment as members of our own families.

SIR is conveniently located at 600 N. Cattlemen Road, Suite 100, Sarasota, FL, just west of I-75 and north of Fruitville Road. Ample parking is available.

CCTA for Heart Imaging

American Heart Month is observed each February as a reminder to the public to learn more about heart disease, evaluate personal risk factors, and take steps to reduce the risk of a coronary event.

Today’s blog introduces a lesser known procedure—the cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA)—that provides valuable information about the heart as one means of evaluating personal risk.

Please note that this blog, and all others written for this website, is not intended to give medical advice but rather to provide general information of an educational nature, as only your physician can recommend what is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

For more information, call 941-378-3231.

"THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to you, Dr. Grubbs, and your wonderful team. Amazing care (plus patience with my anxiety) and the results made me feel normal again and even better than before!"

Interventional Radiology Procedures to Diagnose and Treat Pain, Illness, and Disease

Interventional radiology (IR) uses noninvasive and minimally invasive techniques, combined with image guidance such as MRI, CT, and fluoroscopy, to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions. The scope of IR services is constantly expanding and, in an effort to serve patients with a variety of health issues, Dr. Grubbs and his team at SIR-Florida are committed to ongoing learning and growing in this dynamic environment. Current services offered at SIR are summarized below. More detail and explanation of our services can be found on the individual pages.

Pain Management – At SIR we understand how difficult living with pain can be. That’s why our philosophy is to treat the whole person as well as family in every step of the process, from providing critical information to maximizing patient comfort during and after treatment for pain. We treat chronic pain; back, joint, and nerve pain; migraines; and spinal fractures.

Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment – An estimated one million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer each year. Physicians who treat cancer patients often refer their patients to SIR for diagnostic biopsies and for procedures that assist in the treatment of cancer and side effects from cancer.

Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment– SIR is at the forefront in the treatment of prostate conditions, including benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer. Our procedures result in fewer side effects than traditional methods used for the prostate, and we now use the transperineal fusion biopsy approach to detect prostate cancer.

Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment – SIR-Florida promotes and offers lung cancer screening with ultra-low dose radiation as a means of reducing the number of deaths caused by this disease. Lung cancer affects both men and women and is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. .

Liver Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment – At SIR-Florida, our sophisticated technology is used to perform CT-guided liver biopsies to assess liver lesions. In some cases of confirmed liver cancer, we perform targeted therapies for liver cancer upon the referral of the patient’s cancer physician.

Diagnostic Scanning and Screening – A CT (computed tomography) scan makes use of computer-processed combinations of many X-ray measurements taken from different angles to produce cross-sectional (tomographic) images (virtual "slices") of specific areas of a scanned object, allowing an excellent view inside the tissue without invasive cutting.

Vascular Procedures – Sarasota Interventional Radiology is one of Florida’s cutting-edge vascular intervention centers where angiograms and arteriograms are performed to assess the flow of blood in vessels.

Peptide Medicine and Peptide Therapy – SIR-Florida is at the forefront of the exciting new realm of peptide therapy to effectively and safely treat a wide variety of medical and physical conditions.

Uterine Fibroids – Uterine fibroids are noncancerous tumors that grow in or on the uterus, affecting approximately 20-40% of women over age 35.  We perform uterine fibroid embolization to block the flow of blood to the tumors, causing them to shrink and providing significant or total relief.

GI & GU– The gastrointestinal tract (GI tract) houses many important organs that play an essential role in the digestion of food, while the genitourinary tract (GU tract) is comprised of the urinary and reproductive organs. We perform procedures for bile duct obstruction, kidney and urinary obstruction, and difficulty swallowing as well as assessment of the liver for fibrosis and steatosis.

Advanced Technology with a Human Touch –
Unparalleled Treatment with an Eye on Patient Cost Savings

Selection of a facility for your medical care is a personal decision, one that you should discuss with your ordering physician, but also one that is ultimately yours to make. Whether it’s a biopsy or an interventional procedure, you may have your procedure at the facility of your choice. SIR has revolutionized minimally invasive surgery on Florida’s West Coast, and our practice offers many advantages over other diagnostic clinics and even hospitals. Here are just a few of the reasons that make SIR stand apart:
  • Advanced technology to provide the ultimate imaging experience. Our state-of-the-art equipment is carefully selected to maximize patient safety and comfort.
  • Unparalleled diagnosis and treatment. We use the latest approved minimally invasive procedures that have shorter recovery times, fewer risks and complications, and less pain than traditional surgery.
  • Physician expertise and experienced clinical staff. Our board-certified physicians and registered technologists are trained in the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Your individual sedation needs are met by board-certified anesthesiologists, so you won’t feel or remember a thing about your procedure. Our experienced, caring nurses will be at your side to meet your needs before, during, and after your procedure.
  • Significant cost savings compared to charges at local hospitals. Being an outpatient facility means less cost to patients for procedures. The cost of identical procedures performed on an outpatient basis at local hospitals is significantly greater than at SIR.
